Climate


Nicaragua's climate varies with elevation. Coastal regions are tropical, while the highlands and mountains are cooler. In the lowlands, the mean average temperature is about 78 degrees F (about 26 degrees C); in the higher elevations average temperatures vary between 60 and 80 degrees F (about 15 and 27 degrees C).


A rainy season extends from May to November, with rainfall being heaviest along the Caribbean coast which may receive 150 inches (380 centimeters) of rain per year. In the Pacific Coast you can expect afternoon showers during the rainy season. Most days are sunny in the Pacific side of the country. 

The temperature in San Marcos ranges between 60 and 85 degrees F.
